Sydney, Melbourne, Perth

Hi, have been looking as much as possible but any tips / help much appreciated. we are staying in sydney for 20 days and are doing the obvious attractions but looking for any other short trips etc which we could do on a budget, also accomodation.

From Melbourne, you should definitely go visit the for a couple of days. Well worth your time! Other places to visit are the , (particularly if you want to try some rock climbing, , .

The list goes on, but these are some of the most popular options near Melbourne for short excursions. If you provide some more info on the type of things that you enjoy doing then we might be able to help more. Also, what time of year you're coming.

By the way, nothing wrong with being overly obsessed before a trip - all part of the fun if you ask me. Why limit the enjoyment to just the trip itself when you can spend months in advance reading up, dreaming and planning the whole thing

From Sydney:

- the Blue Mountains is easy on the train, and if you get up to Katoomba there are dozens of backpacker hostels to stay at. There is loads to do up there and the scenery is stunning.

- Down the coast to any number of beachside towns - Kiama is one of my favourite, and again could catch train from Sydney there.

- a day or so in Canberra would be good too - lots to see there, a number of galleries and museums, war memorial, old and new parliament house, run around Lake Burley Griffin.

Have fun - it's a beautiful city!! Enjoy that sparkling harbour for me!!

Hi, Thank you so much for those ideas. there are some fantastic things to do. we will be in sydney may, melbourne june and perth late june/july. not really into the thrillseekers fun like the rock climbing but everything else sounds great
