Hello fellow travellers. I am looking for some insight and help planing my 2 week trip to Europe in May 2013.
I will more then likely be landing in Frankfurt. I am completely lost as to where to go from there.
I want to see Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona. Is that too much for only 2 weeks?
More then likely I will be travelling by train. Is it worth it to buy the Eurail Pass for 15 days?
Any help is muchly appreciated.
Hi, what do you want suggestions about?
In all honesty, I think this is too much to do in one trip - you will be so exhausted from all the traveling and won't have many full days in the places at all.
If you were taking a guided bus tour, it would be ok, because then the logistics of the trip aren't a worry for you - you just hop on a bus and arrive hours later - however if you are doing this trip independently I think it is too much.
For 17 nights maybe do 4 places maximum... although 3 would be better.
Also, is there an overnight train to Nice? I know you can take a quick TGV in a few hours - I would do that and spend the extra night in Nice (or Paris for that matter!).
Happy journey

Thanks Zimil,
I have taken Barcelona and Paris out of the trip. As stated, it's too far of a journey and I will be very rushed. I how ever want to see the Auschwitz concentration camps while on this side of Europe.
So by extending my trip to 16 days I hope to do this.
Fly into Frankfurt(2days)->Prague(2days)->Krakow(2days)->Berlin(3days)->Amsterdam(3days)->Frankfurt to depart back home.
What do you guys think of that? I have yet to check on all the travel times. but with 4 days remaining on my trip I should be good.
I am not taking a guided travel tour. I am doing this solo.
Hello everybody
I totally understand how overwhelming it is to plan a first trip to Europe. There is so much to see and do! We have been only twice now, but after our trip last year, we finally recognized that less is more. We chose four destinations for an 18-day trip (including returns to both Rome and Paris) but for next time we will not select more than three. I think four would be the maximum.
Thanks a lot

Well I am cutting down my stay in Frankfurt and going right to Prague as soon as I land in Frankfurt. After some helpful info I won't need to stay there, in Frankfurt for long. I would rather have more time in Prague and Amsterdam. Plus I am looking at going to Banska for a day or two while in Krakow.
I think Frankfurt would be my very last choice of destinations in Central Europe, but I do realize that FRA airport allows you to fly fairly cheaply into that area. I consider Munich to be a far more interesting destination in Germany. You should also consider an open-jaw airline ticket (for instance, into Munich and out of Amsterdam) - just use the multiple destination option when purchasing the air ticket online:
- home airport to Munich/Frankfurt
- Amsterdam to home airport
(sometimes Dusseldorf is the cheapest airport to fly into in Germany)

Well my return air ticket is $600cdn return from Nova Scotia. Which is pretty cheap. And its only in and out of Frankfurt so that's why I'm landing and departing from there. I do realize its very cheap to fly throughout Europe but having an Eurail pass is the best choice for me, so I think.
