Asia travels April/may/June/July advice :D

Hi guys...
So I'm going over to Asia in less than 3 weeks and I just really would appreciate some tips on cheap ways to get around (buses, trains, inland flights) I am flying into Bangkok on the 29th April and staying there for 3 nights... I have a one way flight from London so guessing I would need a visa (could go for a 60day visa?) or a cheap flight to Cambodia? I want to travel from bkk to chiang Mai... Train/flight/bus??? Then down south to all the islands etc.
Any advice regarding travel, money, visas, good items to take, absolutely ANYTHING.... Would be much appreciated
Cheers

Hi there,

Buses go everywhere and anywhere in Thailand. Very easy to organise! I would recommend to book a day or two in advance. AirAsia provide pretty cheap flights, i'd say fly if you are pushed for time otherwise bus should be fine! Sleeper buses are available too so you can get on one of those and spread your legs out!

You can organise a 60-day tourist visa for Thailand, however you get 30 days if you enter by air, or 15 days if you enter by land. I over stayed by 1 day and was unnoticed when i passed through customs! If you plan to leave the country and come back you might not need the 60 day visa!

Have you thought about visiting Laos? Fly to Vientiane make your way North stopping at Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, then further north to gibbon experience and then head to Chang Mai? Check out google maps!

Otherwise Cambodia is pretty cool too! You should be able to pick up a cheap flight to Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. Angkor Wat is a must and I'd head down to Sihanoukville for some beach relaxation.

Island hopping in Thailand is pretty poplar and well worth it! Koh Tao is very chilled, not much going on here. good snorkeling destination. Koh Phangnan - Full moon party is right up your alley if you love to party. Was a highlight on my Thailand trip! And then head over to Koh Samui to relax and recover . Oh and if you've got time head over to Krabi (on the mainland) very nice part of Thailand.. Much better than Phuket!

Good Luck!
