Hi Everyone!
Hi
Some non mainstream ideas... :-)
The Balkans - Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, etc. Cheap and interesting.
Taiwan - bit like Japan on the cheap.
Russia - okay requires a visa but Moscow and St Petersburg have some top sights.

Yes i absolutely agree with Andyf, also the Caucasus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbijan are worthwhile and rewarding, although they can be hard work.
Hi Everyone!
New to this but have recently just started planning a round the world trip in 2015. Currently ill be going solo but would be happy to travel with others!
Need some advice on the best way to get around and meet new people!
Any places to go that arent mainstream?!
Thanks!!
Are you travelling in 2015 or 2014? I ask as 2015 is a year away from now.
I believe start with your own country then go to the neibhour country which is good and then go on till you reaches you won country. I would suggest travel via water to have more pleasure as well as save money.IF you budget is high you can afford air travel as well. I am not against the air travel but it's fine to go with both and water more.
There are many country you would like to visit you have to make a list with alot to discard also. What is your time ayear or 6 month to cover the world? Or even more. Plan accodingly!
Wish you happy journey!

The world is a big place Liv! What kind of things are you interested in? Are you going to work and travel or just travel?
Thats my problem steve, I dont know!
I want to be amazed, sort have my breath taken away with the things I see. i would like to try and avoid typical tourist spots and see the other places, although Im sure there will be a few tourist spots I will visit.
I think thinks that have a story behind them, so any places that have a great history would be a real interest to me!
At the moment it would be just to travel but the world is my oyster and there is nothing to say i wouldnt stay and work somewhere.
Do you have anywhere in mind? Any countries that are interesting you at the moment?
How much money do you hope to have saved up by the time you are ready to go? That will influence your choice of countries.
Workwise I guess you would be looking at Australia, New Zealand or Canada.
Personally I loved pretty much all of South-East Asia and New Zealand is jaw droppingly beautiful in places.
Your best bet might to buy some travel books and try and draw up a shortlist as a starting point.
