I'm an English student planning on taking a gap year starting this summer until I go to uni in 2015. A couple of my friends and I are looking into travelling through South/Central America, and would appreciate any suggestions and tips. In terms of: transport in and to countries, accommodation, activities, attractions and anything else that will enable us to have a fulfilling yet relatively cheap experience.
Rumour has it that Argentina and Brazil are the two more expensive countries in South America. For a cheaper experience in South America, try Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador - lots to see, long history, geographically interesting on the edge of the Andes and wonderful people (but no Rio carnival!!).
