Im heading over to OZ on a WHV in July, starting in Sydney and plan to stay there working for a while then travel during the summer.

Hey. I'm hoping to fly out to Oz at the beginning of Jan 2016. Was planning on staying in Sydney for the majority of the year to work and save before travelling around the rest of the country but i've heard Dec/Jan is the worst time of year to try and get a job in Sydney!

I'm undecided what to do one person I spoke to who's in Aus now works for a month then travels for a month and so on, I think it's one of them you wouldn't really know untill you got there.
Yeah I've heard that but also heard that if your willing to do any job even if you have to tell a few white lies on your cv then it's really easy.
yeah i'll be going on my own. I always intended to go out there with someone, so I'd like to meet people when i get there to travel the rest of the country with and even SE Asia once the WHV is up so i'm pretty open minded and flexible about the whole thing really. Will just take it as it comes! My only worry is money and work haha
No, not booked anything yet. Still saving & got a couple of other trips this year (only short ones). Will probably apply for my visa and start booking things late summer time.
Well me and my friend will be going November we are booking our visa in May and our flights in June you can meet up with us when you get there hopefully we will be able to find our way around by the time you get there haha!
Itis scary doing it but it will be so worth it there's so many call centre jobs so I think we will be ok for jobs.
Omg I'm the same I have two holidays to pay for but I need to get my visa booked ASAP to motivate me to save for Aus otherwise I'd just keep spending

and same, i've worked out how much i need to save per month to be able to afford everything. it'll be difficult, but i should be able to do it and have enough saved to leave in Jan :D
Yes even if it means you have to stay in more it will be so worth it in the end! How much are you planning on taking with you?
We defiantly want to spend New Years in Sydney would you not wanna come a little earlier so you could do the same?

i'm hoping to save up around £4k to cover flights, visa, insurance & then money for when i'm out there. How about yourself?
I'd love to be in Sydney for NYE but i think January is the earliest i can realistically afford it seeing as i'm going India in November. My birthday is Dec 28th so would be nice to have xmas/bday at home and then fly out beginning of Jan. can always get to Sydney for the next NYE just before my WHV runs out!
