Solo Travelling

Hi, I'm currently booking and planning my trip to and around America but as a solo travelling I'm starting to feel the nerves about going alone, anyone got any tips on traveling alone, is it as scary as I'm starting to imagine it is?!

Hey

When are you going ? I'm going solo too in Feb 2016 , im excited and nervous a bit since I do not speak Spanish but im sure it would be fine ...Ive always travelled solo so its normal to feel nervous before the trip but we meet other travellers and things gets better and we even forget we are traveling solo You can look for travel buddies on couchsurfing and travbuddy website as well .

I go in January, so pretty soon now! I am very excited just feels a little daunting going alone!! Thanks for them websites, I'll check them out!!!

Amy, which countries are you planning to visit?

Cheers,
Terry

Around America, I've got Boston and New York both booked, then most likely fly to the opposite side and do LA area and San Diego! Have you been before?

You're posting in the Central/South America & The Caribbean forum. Since you're visiting the USA then post in the North America forum, here:

That said, there's no reason to be intimidated by solo travel to the US. I assume you're from the UK so the US is not in any way an exotic or difficult destination. You speak the same language, eat mostly the same food, listen to the same music, wear the same clothes, have a long shared history, etc. There's no culture shock like travelling to many other places in the world.

Being able to talk/read/write the same language will make it a simple location to research and super simple to travel/communicate/explore once you arrive. There are endless guide books and tourist websites offering an avalanche of information.

Relax and have fun with your research.

Cheers,
Terry
