Trip feedback? Malaysia 2016

Hello,

For a great compact travel camera that's small enough to slip into a pocket have a look at this:

If you live in Alberta as your profile suggests it's at the top of your price range, but the ZS40 model it replaces can be found for killer sale prices now.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Thx Terry!

The Panasonic Lumix ZS40 and ZS50 are excellent cameras for travel. I own and use both.

This is an excellent time to buy cameras, as many retailers have reduced prices for the holidays. Both the ZS40 and the ZS50 are now priced at under $300 at several stores in the U.S. Go online to check. Overseas, the models are known as TZ60 and TZ70.

I used the ZS50 almost exclusively on my recent trip to West Africa, Portugal and Spain. See the photos in my Travellerspoint gallery.

I use pocket cameras, such as the ZS40 and ZS50, so as not to attract too much attention, particularly when photographing people. Both the ZS40 and ZS50 have zooms that also are useful in photographing nature, including birds. They also take excellent videos.

Instead of a regular bulky camera case, I slip my ZS40 or ZS50 into a fabric bag to put in my pants pocket while walking around. I use a Tenba wrap to protect the camera when it's packed in my bag.

I usually take two cameras on trips: A pocket camera; and a larger one. I find that I use the pocket camera more because of its versatility. Hope this helps.

One more thing. Carry a plastic bag to protect your camera against rain and dust.
