Hi all, well I've finally locked in my major routes for the trip starting in late May. There is only one hurdle. I wish to travel from Egypt to Turkey via Israel. I'm concerned with
A: Only being able to organise a visa for Syria from home, Australia and it will only last 3 months. That is no good.
B: getting turned away at the border.

Any help would be greatly received..
Cheers,
BTW, I'm EXCITED!
there is no ferry. but there are direct flights. you can fly to antalya or istanbul depending on your route.
As far as I know you can travel from Israel to Syria with a visa for Israel in your passport, but not vice versa, so your route wouldn't give too much trouble.
Doesn't the date of a visa start at time of entrance of the country? Then I'd assume 3 month would be enough
Have you considered doing it via Cyprus?
Its possible to get a ferry from Egypt or Israel to Cyprus. From Israel it goes from Haifa port to Limassol.
and then Im pretty sure that its possible to get a ferry/ boat to Turkey from cyprus, not sure whether it would be southern or northern Cyprus though.
Im not entirely sure on which port you would need in Cyprus to get to Turkey but im pretty sure a ferry does exist. I think its from Girne in Northern Cyprus to Tasucu in Turkey you would have to look it up.
Regards

It's just the other way around as far as I know. So no proof of Israel in your passport and you will be fine. You don't need a visa for Israel I guess, just like Europeans don't.
Best way to go is Egypt - Jordan - Syria (maybe sidetrip Lebanon), back into Jordan - Israel and then towards Turkey by ferry or plane. Or skip Israel altogether. Either way: no proof of entry into Israel if you are going to visit Syria! It's ok for the other countries though (except maybe Lebanon probably).
Ferries I am not sure, you might check our article. If there is one from Cyprus, it will leave from Northern Cyprus. Otherwise, there are relatively cheap flights from Northern Cyprus to various Turkish cities.
Have fun!
Michael.

You're right... I mixed it up. Sorry for the inconvenience

I highly recommend syria - it is one of my favourite countries i have been to.
Have a great trip!
I'm sorry to say the ferry from Haifa to Cyprus has been suspended. So, you'd have to fly from Israel to Turkey.
I am not sure about the case for Australians...........
BUT for Americans, we can go to the US Embassy in Cairo to request a duplicate passport to use while traveling to Israel. You can get rejected at the border of both Syria and Lebanon for having an Israeli stamp in your passport. The only requirement is that we return the duplicate passport prior to leaving the region (i.e, in Turkey). I have heard that British also have a similar system -- so it would be worth contacting the embassy in Amman and in Cairo to see if you have a similar option. In the time I went, Israel (2006 after the Lebanon issue) did not want to let you in if you had a Syrian or Lebanese stamp, either! The one thing you need to be careful of when using this is to make sure that the ISRAEL passport is stamped at the Egypt border --- if Lebanon or Syrian officials see TABA stamped in your passport (in Arabic) they won't let you in :P
My travel plan was a little crazy, but went as follows (all by land except where noted): Egypt cross border at Taba > enter Israel via Eilat > entered Jordan same day as entered Israel, and traveled in Jordan > Back via Israel West Bank border.... took FOREVER to get through and then traveled through Israel > Flight to Istanbul > Travel through Turkey > Entered Syria > Lebanon > Flew to Cairo.
I think an alternative solution would be to travel from Cairo to Jordan via Ferry crossing the Red Sea (which you may be able to arrange from Dahab) and then go to Syria, Lebanon, back to Syria and to Turkey...... Go to israel after all of this either via direct flight from Turkey or via Cyprus if it is possible at that time. Leaving Israel as the last stamp to enter your passport would be a good option especially if Australia doesn't have the same system that America has, as then you would not get rejected at any border.
Have a great trip!!!
