Although this site is great for general independent travel advice, your friend google may be more helpful for this type of information. Try to find the blog of someone who has already done the trip. People who have done this trip will be your best source of advice.

You will probably want to start in Russia, at least you will be entering Russia via a major airport. As for leaving, it will probably be considered illegal and you are likely to be banned from travelling in Russia for a 5 year period.

You will also need to do some research re. currents and wind. You don't want to fight these all the way... but, as an experienced kayaker, you already know this. If this is your first expedition, you will likely become fish food!

Part of the difficulty would be getting to the Bering Strait. There are no roads on either side of the strait, for hundreds of kilometers.

Also, that part of Russia is militarily sensitive and requires special permission from the local government. Russia's bureaucracy is still stuck in the Soviet era, when it comes to this sort of thing.
