I want to find some cheap but nice accommodation before and during the Full Moon party on koh phangnan but don't want to be near Haad Rin. Any advice on places to stay on the other side of the island would be wonderful. Don't care about getting a tuktuk to the full moon, just don't want to stay with rowdy gap-yearers. (despite being one myself last year!!)
I'm a fan of Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach. A beautiful, mellow, but fun place. Boat to the party.
Haad Mae Had is quiet and has a nice beach, although I was only there on a day trip so I'm not sure what the prices are like for accomodation. It's at the North West of the island so if you wanted to go to the Full Moon Party you'd probably need to get a songthaew taxi to Thong Sala and then another one to Haad Rin.
Leela Beach is also a bit quieter than Haad Rin but only a ten minute walk away (over a small hill). The quietest place on Leela Beach is probably Lighthouse Bungalows down at the bottom end of the beach then along a wooden platform, and it's also the cheapest.
