Hey Everyone!

November or later, when the weather gets better in Asia, get a visa and fly to India or China. You can take endless great photos in either place, and have mostly good weather and light to do it in.

You are still young and have plenty of time to travel to other countries. Don't just look for stamps on your passport.

Money goes a LONG way in India. Much of China is quite cheap too. A Lonely Planet guide to either place will tell you all you need to know.

You forgot to tell him to take his umbrella!

If you were going the summer months maybe take the trans-sibberian.
I agree that India and China would be a good choice, or even add Nepal and Tibet into the mix.

Thanks for all your answers!

does anyone have a estimated cost for this? from what iv'e worked out i would need £2,300 (approx) per month for food. accommodation washing kits i.e shampoo etc..

maybe i need more, also whats the best/cheapest method of travel?

Dodger. I know you don't like newspapers but how about TV? I watched the Chinese news this morning and there are some very serious flooding going on at the moment in China due to the torrential rains there.

But I suppose you'd say to wait in a shop doorway till it stops raining? One couple who had to be rescued by a fork lift as they struggled not to be carried away by raging flood waters running through a town might disagree with you (and so have you stalking them from then onwards for daring to do so.)

For £2,300 a month, you can live like a king in India.

Pick up an Indrail pass and you can travel and travel. Prices in $:

You can pay in £. I had the first ever first class 60 day pass back in January 1988, which I picked up from New Delhi. Believe me, first class is worth the extra money.

Accommodation and food are very cheap once you get out of the big cities.

On my trips there I saw some trees full of bats and as it got dark thousands of them took off over the space of an hour. A gold coloured lake (pond life I suppose), vultures eating a dead buffalo, endless colourful temples, some on hill tops, elephants, colourful birds and other wild life. Fishing at Cochin and Goa, burials and bathing at Varanasi and the Indians themselves in all their lifestyles and ways.

Try kayak for a cheap flight. You will of course need a visa. I found January the best time to go.

You can also get a cheap flight from down south and spend a week in Sri Lanka as I did one trip.
