Getting geared up for the Olympics at the moment and cant wait for it to start, but was starting to wonder......Does anyone travel to see the games anymore, or is it just the home crowd that turn up! And also is there anyone on the forum thats making the trip?
I'm not making it I'm afraid but I have 5 friends that are travelling over. So definitely not just locals It should be heaps of fun. I had a great time at the Sydney one, especially at the Holland Heineken House
Heathrow has had its capacity increased to cope with the numbers coming through for the olympics. I heard 10,000 but not sure if thats total expected or per week or what.
We're making a big trip for this Olympics! We leave tomorrow and we're flying into Paris (we wanted to specifically avoid Gatwick and Heathrow) and then we're taking the Eurostar to the UK. We're getting off at Ebbsfleet International -- it's an intnl train station so all trains to and from Europe stop there -- and we're staying in the area because it's way cheaper than central London. We plan on commuting into the Games on the Javelin because it gets you to Olympic Park in under 20 minutes. When our trip is over, we'll just take the Eurostar from Ebbsfleet Intnl back to Paris and fly out.
We've never traveled to England this route before, so I think it'll be exciting! This is definitely going to be different than our normal, fly-into-Heathrow trips. Is anyone else doing it this way?
Made the short 2.5 hr coach trip to London from Bristol to watch the Olympic marathon. The crowd and atmosphere was amazing! Didn't get to see the Olympic park as it was closed off for the closing ceremony but had an awsome time none the less!
