question for the girls!

hello,

Shouldn't be a problem - I've never been asked about anything like that on entry to either country. I've carried a similar amount of pills with me in the past without any issues.

Excuse me for butting in.

I've been watching an Australian customs service programme on TV and luggage is x-rayed. They take especially notice of large quantities of pills, which often turn out to be ecstasy or another drug. They do a simple test on them which takes just seconds.

No doubt there are many other women in the same position so it should be no problem.

You shouldn't have a problem at all. I think I had about a year's supply on me when I got to Australia. They're more concerned with prescription medications that have a high value on the black market. Things like birth control aren't an issue. I eventually switched to an IUD though - waaaaaay less hassle for travelling.

Also, sorry if it's TMI, but seriously consider a DivaCup or Moon Cup. Not everybody likes them, but if you can tolerate it you will never go back to pads/tampons. It's hugely convenient when you're on the road. Nothing worse than scouring a foreign city for feminine hygiene products in the middle of the night - although for some that's part of the adventure of travelling

thanks for the replies, its so helpful to get some answers!
so upon entering the country would i need to declare them?

Or you can take your 3 month supply and then order more to wherever you are when you land somewhere for a while. I was inter railing last year and I got a batch from The Online Clinic right in the middle of my trip just before i ran out - I'm not as organised as you! and I paid a tiny bit extra for next day delivery in case I had to move on or they got delayed going via Royal Mail. The only thing you'll need for them is to have been prescribed the pill before since it's an online service and everything. Then your prescription just stays there for when you need to order again. It was really handy and i didn't worry about the airport or customs or travelling around and losing the pills. They are legit and have their own docs too.

Have a good trip. Wish I was going back this year but I'll have to wait! All the best!

I never declared mine. To be honest, I don't consider birth control a "medication" so it never even occured to me to even research that when I was travelling.

Even after hundreds of flights and passing through customs, I have not once ever been questioned about medications or about the quantity of birth control pills. It just doesn't come up.

Same here. I wouldn't even give it a second thought!
