Short trip to Malaysia

I'm spending 11 days travelling in Malaysia from 10th - 22nd December and I'll need to get a flight onto thailand to arrive in Krabbi by the 23rd. This is my first solo trip and first time in Malaysia so would appreciate some advice!

Hey myself and my boyfriend went to Malaysia last year and loved it! First we went to Borneo (cheap flights from KL) here you can see the orangutans and stay in the jungle, there is also great food and beaches in Kota Kinabalu.

Then we went to KL, it's a nice city, while there we went to visit the Batu caves. These are nice caves just outside of the city, you can get a local bus there or there is also a train. There are lots of monkeys around the caves too.

From there we went to the Cameron Highlands, we really enjoyed it here. The weather is great, because it's so high up there is no humidity and you need to wear jumpers in the evenings. Here we did a tour (just booked through a local agency on the main road) it was a hike to see the Rafflesia flower and we also went to the tea fields. Would definately reccommend you go there.

Then lastly we went to the Perhentian islands, they are beautiful islands up in the north of Malaysia, if you went there then maybe you could consider going into Thailand overland.

Where ever you go you will have a great time
good luck

KL is a superb city. Have a visit to the Bird Park and great walks in the parks and downtown. Visit little China, little India, etc. You can also have a lot of fun in the jungle and beaches around. Many places are great. The primary forest is full of species of plants/animals and beaches are pristine with fewer crowd than Thailand.

Hello from Malaysia ,

What kind of activites are you looking at? more of city tours or nature ones?
City tours, I'd suggest Kuala Lumpur, it has the tour bus, Twin Towers....etc.
If you're into diving, I'd suggest Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. They also have Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain in SE Asia. You can travel there by flight (check Air Asia).

You can inbox me if you need any other information, happy to help

cheers!

Malacca, KL, and Cameron highlands are all worth a visit, but don't miss Taman Negara national park - it was the hightlight of my month in Malaysia. It was amazing to be in the jungle and there are some nice walks you can do. There are floating restaurants along the banks of the river which serve good food. If you want some beach time at the end of your trip, the Perhentian Islands are really pretty and are a nice place to relax for a few days.

i agree with graby's remarks about malaysian borneo. kuching is a neat place and bako national park offers great hiking. kota kinabalu is also a great hike, and if you're not into that there is lots of fantastic island hopping nearby.
