I'm going travelling on my own in October until March in Australia - I plan to fly to Sydney and then i have arranged a few families to stay with.
Hey :-)
I will be in Sydney in December too and stating in hostels! Travelling alone is always a bit daunting but you will meet loads of people and I'm sure you will be fine as long as you are careful with valuables etc!
Always good to know a friendly face though!
Let me know where abouts you will be :-)
Have fun xx
You may have seen the New Year fireworks celebrations in Sydney on TV? One of the reasons why Sydney is very expensive over Christmas and the New Year.
The Gold Coast is a nice area. I stayed in Surfer's Paradise about ten years ago and got a good sized apartment for 4 nights at A$30 a night. No doubt prices have gone up since then.
hostelbookers has some cheap accommodation, hotels included.
I've travelled on my own for decades and wouldn't have it any other way, with the freedom to do as I want, when I want without asking others first.
Youth hostels are normally safe (with the same leches as anywhere else). I always have a private room with a lock to protect my stuff when not there.
They often have noticeboards so you can ask if there are any other females going in your direction and judge for yourself if she is going to rob you. Rare, but it happens.
thanks so much guys! going to be pretty scary xx
