Yeah, allow me one question: are you mental? If there is one place I wouldn't spent my money on, it is Scotland in November. Brr. I went there in August and it was way too cold and rainy for me at this time of the year. OK, Christmas shopping in London is nice. And if a quiet rest where you can catch a cold is what you want, the Scottish countryside in November is perfect. But if not, really consider going at another time. Scotland is a lonely place even in summer, when tourists flock to it. When it is winter, it will be dead.

Nearby Edinburgh u should visit the Border Abbeys, or North Berwick for a day trip. Edi has heaps to do anyway so just wander the grassmarket, royal mile and youll find great pubs!
Roslyn Chapel is nice too and not far away.
There's a lot you have to do in Glasgow. What sort of things are you interested in? I know that's a pretty vague question, but what do you like to do on holiday? Shop? Tour? Relax? Glasgow has it all. Even in November

yeah! ill point out that Edinburgh is next to London as the most visited city in Britain....so she probably feels a bit threatened

t_maia: No, not mental, just have to travel in November to spend my birthday there (second week), and I've always liked what I've seen of Scotland (pictures, that is). So since I'm visiting friends in London, might as well go up to Scotland. Will remember to pack more warm stuff!
ColdWarSpy & Mikey: Thanks for the suggestions! I just like to take it easy on holidays, wandering around, checking out the scenery and visiting interesting places. Not so much pubbing, but wouldn't mind going to one. If there's something interesting outside of Edinburgh/Glasgow that I could cover in a day trip, wouldn't mind going there too.
Oh yes, I'd love to visit castles! Any suggestions on where I can see them? And do you think I'd be able to catch Rangers v Celtic that time? Hmm...
Btw, would you two want to meet up when I'm there? If Mikey is still a budding member then, that's worth a toast or two.

Castles - nearby Edinburgh is the Hermitage Castle in the Borders. Also near North Berwick is Dirleton Castle. Im off to see Tantallon Castle this weekend - just past North Berwick (20 min from Edi) my photo gallery will have heap of Scot pics.

Whenin London take the Big Bus tours to see all the tourist places, this is great we bought a 24 hour ticket and then we got off where we were interested and back again as many times as we liked in the 24 hours. The web site is http://www.bigbus.co.uk
