in Australia we call them 'budgie smugglers'
some people do wear them at bondi and manly.
but with the cold water and the lack of a sun tan it's not a great look!
Most of the Australians I knew didn't wear them, or wore them under their board shorts. The latter is a safe bet, as when you feel the time is right, you can always switch easily in that case
Hi! All I can say is definately not. I have lived in Australia all my life, and everyone wears board shorts. The only people that were them are old men with beer guts and pro swimmers.

Hahaha Well it's true- most Australian men do wear board shorts- but I feel bad saying that because you really wanted to wear your speedos! I say who cares what people think! wear the speedos!! :-)
I was at Bondi Beach 2 weeks ago and you get the odd person wearing speedos but like the people i saw wearing them in hawaii last week they are usually men in their 60's who look like theyve fried in the sun to long.
LOL!!! Definately Boardies, just like the other Fellow aussies said, Speedo's are mainly for old men, pro swimmers and for little kids..... As for the rest, go for the BOARDIES, or you will feel out of place for sure.....
get yourself some boardies from billabong, ripcurl, quicksilver or similar, thats what they all wear out there dude!
