A place desirable between Rio and Igauzu

Guys need some help, to break up the journey between Rio and Iguazu which is around 22 hours on a bus. I would like people reccommend a place in between these two place. Which would half the journey time.

FORGET Sao Paulo. Its not a tourist city. Its a financial city unless its summer, then the beaches are good. Usually the bus stops in SP and Curitiba. Go to Curitiba. I dont know much about Curitiba but they have good coffeeshops (not like amsterdam) good transit and cool people. They have a good park with flowers and such. They have good churrascarias also ( all you can eat meat). ANy place is better than here (Sao Paulo). SP is huge and not interesting.

Agree with way2goeh's report on SP: have been forced to go there several times, and every time has been awful. Dirty, expensive, and the people just aren't very friendly.

North of Iguaçu, consider Londrina. It makes an exceptionally nice and laid back stopover.

I didn't find SP so uninteresting. It has a lot of culture, arts, international flair and good nightlife...

SP's meant to be as described above but I stopped in Curitiba and it was the most dull place I've been in a very long time. Seriously. Dull.

If I were you I'd stop somewhere on the coast even if it takes a lot longer.

Don´t miss the beautiful Santos - Rio route. A lovely colonial city ( on the World Monumental Heritage List, also many brazilian soaps and movies are filmed here) is Parati, about 200 kms south of Rio. And go for 2 or more days to Ilha Grande, off Angra dos Reis by ferryboat. Clear warm water and much more idyllic than Rio itself, IMO

Go to Angra dos Reis to most beautifull and interesting place between it!
