Suggestions needed on important things for a trip to US

I am planning a trip to the US with my friends some time next month. We are planning to hit NYC, California and a couple of other places. I wanted to ask a few things.

I think using Email on a laptop with a WiFi connection would be your cheapest method of communication,Many hotels have a free to use computer or two in their lobbies.
Using cell phones to communicate from USA to India i would imagine to be very expensive. Before you leave talk to your local cell phone provider to see if they have an affordable plan for your needs.Do not just use a regular cell phone plan to call India as the roaming charges will give you a multi thousand dollar bill when you get home.
And yes it will be a lot cooler weather wise than in India, expect NYC temperatures to generally be in the mid 70's during the day and 50's at night, add 10 degrees for California.

Spring temps in the USA vary considerably according to elevation. Places like Arizona and Florida will be hot, but NYC and San Francisco can vary anywhere from 50 F to 75 F. You picked a very good month for travel - not hot and not cold. My drugstore is full of international phone cards.

The US is a multi-cultural society. A large concentration of persons from India living outside that country here in the States is in Artesia, California, located in southeast Los Angeles County (off state road 91 freeway, exit Pioneer.).

If you are in the area, and are looking for your favorite foods and supplies from home, this community is a great place to stop in.

Having a hard time coming up with things you should bring other than the obvious: camera etc. One thing I would suggest is a light, water proof, jacket and maybe a few sweatshirts (if you have them) for that all import "layer" method of dressing. SF will be cool, particularly for someone coming from India. Have a day backpack where you can stash your extra clothes as you enter museums etc. And this time of year rain is always in play. So make sure you have water proof stuff (or a cheap poncho) which will enable you to get around in all kinds of weather.

If you have any electrical devices that need plugging in you might want to invest in an adapter for American electrical systems (Wall Plugs)

With any appliance u use in the States, pls make sure b4 plugging it in that the device is made 2 work in the US (the voltage in the USA is different compared to that in the UK) otherwise u could end up blowing it up!

Have a safe trip.
