As a Brazilian I would suggest you to change Porto Seguro to other place like Arraial D'ajuda or Trancoso. Porto Seguro is too crowded.
as you are going to be in Salvador, there are other small towns around like itacare, marau or barra mansa. These are much more funny and the people who used to go are more good looking
Have a nice stay and don't forget that,unfornutely there are many thieves in my country....
rokut, thanks for the advice! Thats the kind of knowledge I'm looking for - the places that might be a little more 'real' than the tourist hot-spots! And as for the thieves - lets home my practically translucent white skin doesn't attract too much unwanted attention along the way!! Obrigada!
