So, I want to get a WHV and travel to Australia. I have no idea where to start!!
to start in regards to a WHV. It's the official immigration website, and you can also apply online through them (the cheapest option for the visa!)

I started by booking my flights via Thailand for 12 nights, then to Sydney. Decided to go with a group just for my own peace of mind. Alot of people do go on their own but just depends what your more comfortable with. I'm still technically going on my own in my head! It's still scary! I didn't do my visa as the company I booked through did everything like that for me...
I booked a 1 way flight cause I don't know when I'll be back or which route I'll travel... Can't remember exatly how much it was but somewhere around £580.00.
I fly a week tomorrow!!! Eeeek! Can't belive how quickly its came round!

Wow, so you've paid around £580 for a one way flight to Thailand and your visa is included in that price?? What company was it if you don't mind me asking?
Are you planning on working whilst your travelling?

hi Laura_88, check out STA travel. They can organise everything for you with flights, visa, accommodation, trips, bus tours, etc!
i booked with them, im going on a WH Visa, i paid £550 one way with a stop over in Dubai.
i thought i'll get a one way as im not sure what i want to do with regards to coming bk, i want to try and get a second working visa, so have to do some fruit picking or if not prob come home through Asia.
im flying out in November, spending a month in NZ, then over to Australia just in time for xmas... so so excited!!!
best thing to do is get an idea of when you want to go and check out flights, it all flows after that!! good luck!!

I checked out all the options before i came out from the Uk and i ended up booking an arrival package with a cmpany called Ultimate Oz. They organise your WH visa for you, set up bank account & your tax file number so you can work. I reckon its the only way to go these days as it saves you so much time and you have confidence that everything is done properly.
My mate & I came out a couple of months ago with ultimate oz & we had a great bunch of people, went out all the time, found work easily, got to try out surfing which was rather hilarious.
I think it's just a good way to get settled in fast and for me it was worth every cent.

Nah the flight cost doesnt inc my visa. I went with OzIntro, only 4 sleeps to go! Eeeek!!!

I found that Ulitmate Oz the other day and already decided I'm going with that option...can't go wrong!
I'll be going out on my own so knowing that they'll be other in the same boat, it gives me (and my mum bless her) peace of mind that I won't be totally alone. And there's so much involved, couldn't beleive it!
How long are you staying out there, and have you stayed in Sydney?
I don't understand what the tax file number is??

I am travelling to Australia in July, booked my flight the other day. It has all been so sudden, i had the idea to go on April 22nd, and then by the following Thursday I had my Visa and flight sorted, I have been left with 8 weeks to sort everything lol. I am going to Perth and meeting my friend there, we are then embarking on a 2 week roadtrip up the West Coast to his house in karratha where I will live with him and work for a few months, I am then travelling by myself to the East coast and seeing what happens. I aim to be in Sydney for X mas/ NYE. I really hope i meet likeminded travellers along the way
