Hawaii or Hong Kong for a 3 night stop over?

Hi, we are planning a trip to Australia (leaving from the UK) stopping off at singapore on the way out. We can't decide whether to stop off at Hawaii or Hong Kong for 3 nights on our way back to UK. If we choose Hawaii it will be a RTW ticket so will be more expensive. We don't mind the extra cost if it is somewhere we really should see. Would love to know people's opinions on which we should go for.

Hawaii is very touristy, very built up with lots of service people about. Not really that much to see. If you haven't been there before, I think I'd go for Hong Kong. Enough to keep you busy for 3 days, with night markets too.

Accommodation is a bit expensive there. I paid £43 a night for the Metropole in Mong Kok a few years ago. All you really need is somewhere near a subway station (few mins walk away) to help you get around.

Hi, thanks for the advice it's much appreciated

I haven't been to Hawaii but have been to Hong Kong twice and it's a great place for a stopover - there's loads to see and do. Hong Kong would definitely be the more popular of the 2 destinations for a stopover.

If you're looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Hong Kong I can recommend the Dragon Hostel in Mong Kok: clean, friendly and in a great central location.

Cyberia, some parts of Hawai'i are touristy, but some parts are awesome. i guess you just visited the wrong places. I just went to visit there not too long ago; this place is so unspeakably beautiful. So i've been thinking of going there again and hopping 3~4 more islands sometime this summer.
