My name is Alex and I'm trying to plan a month long trip through central america for my girlfriend and myself. I've never left canada and she had quite a bit of travel experience. I'm just looking for some advice from some people that have been through the area. The main objective of the trip is surfing. We both tried out for the first time in tofino and loved it! What are some good surf destinations besides costa rica? We would like to travel between countries so are rental boards available in most surf towns and how much $? Buying boards and hauling them on busses with all of our gear seems like it would pose a problem. I was thinking about flying in to cancun and then working my way to panama city. Is that over ambitious for a month long trip? I'm worried I might end up with more travel day than beach days. Also what is an average cost of bus trips between counties? I got a lot of question any input will help thanks!!
Start researching Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua and El Salvador - they'd be the best places in Central America for novices. If you want to go a bit further afield then research Peru and Brazil, they offer some crazy stuff too.
