unabuna88 has indicated that this thread is about Visas (Australia)
I was in your spot last year, and guess what, I'm typing this from a computer in Australia!
You can get your VISA any time online, without worrying if it'll expire. When I applied last year for my WHV, they clearly stated from the date you booked the visa, you had one year to enter the country. So if you plan on getting here in August, you've nothing to worry about!
Anyway just wondering if anyone knows when i should apply for my usit visa?
I'd recommend just getting your WHV , rather than through a third party like usit, as in the end they'll go through the official website as well, and charge you a rather hefty amount for it. (The current visa cost is AUD $270, which works out to €205. Getting a bank account and tax file number is free, and really easy to do once you're in Australia. So you'd be paying them €224 euro for insurance and a sim card, neither of which would probably be exactly what you'd get if you'd get them separately.)
I'd agree with the above, use the official government website.
I applied last night about 8pm, and had the confirmation of the WHV visa by 8.30am this morning. Brilliant!
Hey I have been hearing alot of people travel Thialand first do uz think this is better or go to Oz and do Thialand enroute back, I'm a bit nervous to go to Thialand myself but less about Oz coz soo many people are in the same position so hopefully meet people fast. Also been looking in to companys, like OzIntro do uz think this is worth it or a waste of money? Sorry I just seen that ScottishCraig is in oz and av got a million questions lol x

I went to Thailand last April and its clean, safe and easy to travel round and if you have done months of saving why not break up the journey and treat yourself to a 2/3 holiday before Australia.
Its so cheap aswell a couple hundred quid can last a week/10 easy. I hope to fly into Bangkok on the 15th of March then get a flight south to one of the islands, probably Koh Samui.
There are probably more backpackers in Thailand than Oz because most dont have to work cos its so cheap, you will meet loads of people there.
Like i say whats the rush getting to Oz and if i was you i would deffo look at Thailand for pit stop!
Like Keatsy above, I plan on headin to the Koh Samui / Koh Phagnan before Aus - you need to stop regardless, so why not somewhere nice for a few weeks!
I totally agree, you are going to save up - so why not save a wee bit extra and make the stop a bit longer!
Thanks everyone- thats really helpfull!
Hi una, I'm going OZ solo in march for a year on a working visa. Planning on starting in melbourne and working my way up the east coast. I've heard melbourne is one of the best places to find work. Is it casual work that you are after? I'm planning on getting a flight with multi stops in Australia, then after go to thailand on the way back x
Thats great I think I will do Thialand on my way there then and if its as good as everyone says hopefully go bak on my way home x
