I'm from UK, can i buy a Thai visa outside the UK?

Hi,

hey alex

I'm not sure about buying one but my partner and I are flying in then leaving then returning overland but intend to stay for more than 15 days so we're just gonna take a couple of days trip to Laos over the friendship bridge and stay a night there and then we'll get another 15 days when we get back.

Might be worth a try and it ticks one more country off the list!

Not sure what the current rules are, but I hold a UK passport and was in New Zealand when the Thai government were offering tourist visas for free. These allow you 3 months stay, but you have to apply, unlike the 15 and 30 day on arrival. Its a simple process though, contact the Thai consulate in Wellington, they are pretty good at replying. I know they extended the free visa date so it may still be available.

On checking they seem to be updating the NZ website or something, I can't get it to load. But you can always apply in Australia, but wow they got expensive! $45 for single entry and $90 for double.

ok thanks guys, i won't get it in aus coz it's soo expensive! i will try the embassy in new zealand as i am going there after aus, but failing that i may try the thai embassy in malaysia, or try change my dates so i can fly in instead!

Alex,
You can get a your visa in Singapore. 370 Orchard Rd. It will cost you $50 SGD for a tourist visa. LA Thai Consulate charges $40 for a tourist visa. I doubt you will save any money by using the Thai Embassy in NZ. It looks like Thailand has raised their visa fees worldwide.

It might make more sense to fly into BKK on a discount airlines: Air Asia, Jetstar, Lion Air, etc and get the free 30 day entry permit. Good luck with your planning.
