Why do Canada tours all go east to west???

Looking at touring Canada in June 2013 but all the tours/trains/car itineraries go east to west - Why not west to east??

Because the West is much more dramatic scenery wise-once you've seen the stunning grandeur of the Rockies and the splendour of British Columbia you'll understand.

The Far East aka Atlantic Canada is nice enough but pales in comparison.

That being said some Rocky Mountaineer train trips do start in Vancouver and head east into the mountains-there's something to be said for approaching the mountains from the coast.

I would have to agree with Sam but another reason is that there is a several hour time change from one side of the country to the other. So if you go east to west you are gaining time as you go instead of lousing it. may seem like a small thing but it gives you more time to get from one place to the next.

I would guess that another reason would be that the east has many more people (Eastern Canada and Eastern USA). Westerners tend to be more the independent types, and would not need tours as much. You've heard of the Left Coast (very similar on both sides of the western border) - a double meaning there indicating more Liberals on the Coast.

I would imagine it is partially because the much larger population is on the East Coast. The West Coast of Canada is spectacular! Victoria is really beautiful and rated the most romantic city in all of Canada. Great opportunity for some whale watching available too.

Don't you all know the real reason? It's because all the friendly people live in the western part of North America and the people get friendlier the farther west you travel.

If you don't believe me ask some of the unbiased commentators on the site--for example, vegasmike6 (Las Vegas), Daawgon (Oregon), SamSalmon (western Canada), Ladymacwil (New Mexico), and me (San Francisco Bay area). I'm sure they'll all agree.

P.S. My apologies to Isadora and DaveinMD.
