Quick question on visa requirements going to China FROM Taiw

xdarcy has indicated that this thread is about Taiwan

Welcome to Taiwan!

Last time I checked (December 2011), foreigners can't fly directly from Taiwan to China unless you apply a special business visa. The easiest way to travel to China while you are in Taiwan is to transit via Hong Kong.

...Taiwan.

Hi Travelers. I am an American who will be living in Taiwan for a year and would like to visit China during that time. Is it possible to obtain a visa to visit China while I am in Taiwan?

If so, where would I go?
Thank you

hi Xdarcy,

you can get it w/ same day service in HK... what you need to do is fly into HK early morning (arrive at 8/9am...) - head out of customs and go downstairs where they have VISA service, you pay them roughly ~$125 for a single entry visitors visa to China... if you're connecting flight to Shanghai is in the afternoon (after 3pm); you should have your VISA before then... you can spend the day at the airport or head to the city for some quick eats... if you spend more time in HK, then you can go with a cheaper service (2-days... week, etc...)

hope it helps have a nice trip
