Start by Googling, "Work Visa California."
With California's economy in the toilet and a BIG crack down on illegal workers I think you might find working in the US in general and California in particular a little bit daunting.

To work in the US you will need a working Visa and getting one can be difficult.
Before you make any plans to travel you will need to have saved some money and done lots of research for the countries you want to travel to. Visa requirements are based on your Nationality, check out the requirements at the website embassies for starters, you'll also need medical insurance and dependent on the countries you travel to inoculations etc.
I'm just giving you a reality check on travel.
