Hi my name is Aaron, im 21 just finished uni and im looking to go to australia for a year in january. The initial plan was for three of us but its not likely that my two mates will actually go through with it, so im looking for people that are going around the same time and that share similar interests on what to do in OZ.
Hi Aaron,
Have you looked into getting your visa yet? I would try and apply for your visa first before you book any flights you get loads of discounts when you book your visa for flights and insurance etc.. Think am booking mine with sta travel, I was looking at emirates and was coming through at just under a grand but through sta it's only costing me 650.. Not got it hundred percent where am starting as yet though do you have any idea?
Am taking about the same amount of money as yourself travel for a bit then get right into working.. Am so nervous about going myself but should be a great experience.. Think am going aroundne start of march.
My friend is on his way back from his oz just new for a few months then he's going back out too start his second visa then he will be a resident and staying there, he is going to help me plan a route and give me some details on places etc I could pass the details on to yourself if you want.. Kinda in the same boat not a clue what too expect ha.
Thanks
Hi clare
cheers, this is what i need just info from people and to do a bit of research because i dont want to go into it clueless haha...thats a good price 650 is that return flight? i hear STA are really helpful too when you organise it through them. If you wouldnt mind passing on some details that would be amazing cheers! as of yet i dont have a route planned but thats what i want to do in the next few weeks. As for the visa i will get that done this coming week then i wasnt sure if i should haveapplied nearer to the time but if you have yours sorted already i best had sort mine then its one thing off the list.
thanks
Hi again,
No am not booking a return flight purely because of the fact I have no intentions of coming home really if all works well a will work on a farm towards the end of my visa for 3 months then get my second year visa granted then after that oz should be my home town ha maybe planning ahead a little but can only see what happens, it's not going too be easy my friend was saying that, think it will be more harder having the courage too speak to strangers and travelling along with them more than anything.. Am not sure what prices you would get for a return flight with a flexible return date am sure if you pay like an extra £100 you can change the dates up to 3 times., plus when you book through the visa bureau they actually give your£25 off your flight with sta along with loads more benefits feels a bit more surel now that I've had it granted going too book my flights this week or the following as soon as I've caught up with my friend.. I've been advised too start in cairns and been reading up on a few hostels and stuff and a bit about the place it's self can go diving in the great barrier reef etc sounds amazing.. What date are you going roughy? Am so scared big world out there with giant spiders ha,..
You on facebook aaron?
Cheers
ahh right that sounds a good plan, im thinking similar like going out but with intentions of staying for the second year depending on how much i like it! yeah my facebook name is azza richmond. I will hopefully get my visa applied for by friday once thats done and flights are sorted it will seem a lot more real. also I hate spiders ha!
Heyy,
Im travelling out there end of Nov/start of Dec.... Going to fly over to Sydney looks amazing for xmas & new year!! When are yous planning on heading out there??
Jo x
Just keep in mind you don't have to have a return flight to your country of origin. Australia like most countries only require you have an onward ticket out of Australia before you visa expires.
Its a rather stupid rule since all you have to do is buy the cheapest fully refundable ticket you can find which would probably be Sydney to Auckland, then when you get into Aus cancel it and leave when you want.
hey jo im heading out january if my two friends join or october if they dont hopefully will find out in this next two weeks so i can book my flights!
hey dodger so are you saying you cant book a one way ticket or can you?

Correct you can not. You need to show proof of an outward bound ticket. But as I said that doesn't mean it has to be a return to your original country of origin.
Hopefully someone here will respond that knows for sure. BUT if you are going on a WHV I believe you only need to show you have the funds for a return ticket. You should be able to look it up on the gov website.
If you want to visit Sydney then "Sydney Opera House" is the best place in Sydney. You will enjoy it.
