i havent booked anything yet but going soon.im heading feb 13,would love to go straight to sydney because my friend lives not to far tho to buy a car from nsw compared to qld is harder to sale,because you pay more when you register it :-P,
i stayed in the base(which is the cheapest option,its not going be a 5 star lol,but most backpackers take the cheapest option and you meet alot of charactors haha

im 21, also travelling alone, i start in new zealand on novemeber 15th then will be australia from February 15th flying into syndey.
I still have absolutely no plans, so looking forward to meeting people doing the same thing!

kiddo86 - Glad you're going to be in Aus in February! So are you going to get a car in Queensland then make your way down to Sydney? Guess that will be a convenient way to get around! Oh and thanks for the tip on Base.. I'll have a look into it x
Stacee - I was considering starting in Melbourne as it makes sense to make your way up the coast I guess but then thought Sydney as it seems a popular place for people to start in and a lot of flights go there, but I would like to visit Melbourne too, so yeah it would be great to keep in contact for when I'm there x
Alicia- That sounds good, I don't know the exact date I will be going as I have yet to book a flight (should probably do that soon!) but I can let you know when I do and if you're still about in Sydney would be great to meet up Also i'm in the same position as you with no plans, but I think that's the way to go and then just go with the flow when you get there. Also if you could let me know how you get on in NZ as I really want to visit there too, but will probably do it after I have been in Aus. x

Hi Naomi/everyone.
Good to hear theres alot of other solo travellers out there! I'v got no set dates but planning to head out to Aussie early march 2013. I say no set dates... i have no set anything just yet. Who needs plans anyway? :P all i know is i want to take the year to get to know australias east coast. Very nervous but cant wait! Im hoping to get to know people before i get out there to travel/tour with or just share experiences so feel free to pm/add me, it would be good to chat.

hey naomi,yeah thinking booking my flight soon so hopefully feb :-P,i got a car last time and was perfect for going to job to job!!for fruit picking id recommend a car as b4 ive travelled 3 days to start a job lol,but good for site seeing too:-)-also for base if u stay a while u can help out for free accom(like cleaning or locker room duties).I havent got many plans set yet but im thinking heading from bris to syd direction and i worked on few farms o way there so depending on picking season if i head striaght or work few weeks inbetween.do u plan to work on ur travels??

I havent decided exactly where im heading to yet. I'd like to base myself near Brisbane for awhile but that doesnt need to come first, it could always come later on. Im hoping to make the most out of my years working visa and slowly travel the whole east coast If i can. Really get a feel for the place. Il defo be working to support my travels but im staying as flexible as possible so if i meet other people along the way i can do as i please.
Will this be you're second year out there? You must have enjoyed you're first visit to be going again. Did you go solo last time??

for me brisbane the best(i dont know about perth tho)so close to surfers paradise and really most aussie's go holiday there so that speaks for its self lol.
yeah this my second year,last time i hadnt the balls so i went with my cousin but u meet so many people there its unreal.:-)
if u go brisbane id recommend the base city center,just because they have a bar under below and some people complain about the noise of music and that,but its really where people start there journey and a good meeting place for like minded people
