I too was thinking of doing oz intro as friends of mine had recommended it - great way to meet a group and they sort a lot of admin-type stuff for you etc etc... but have since spoken to a few more people who think its not worth the money, seems it's just as easy to meet people by turning up at a hostel and getting chatting to the groups there, so I've decided not to do the oz intro week after all... Thankyou, read the comments on your post, sounds like a waste of money too so i'm not going to do it either. People on the fb backpackers page say it is too.

Hiya, I'm also going to be in oz for christmas and nye.... I was thinking of doing the oz intro but after speaking to friends who have been travelling there before it sounds easy enough to be able to go on bus tours around oz (ie Melbourne to cairns) which is now what I will be doing instead.
I too was thinking of oz intro, Im going in november but I have been told the same, I have a friend who is out there at the moment and he has said its a waste of money and just go to a hostel and they help you sort everything out and you meet loadsa people there x

Definitely, i've heard the fireworks are amazing!
Hopefully loads of people will head out there for NYE too, so can meet lots of people.
