Travelling 2013

Hey Guys,

depending where your visiting, bigger citys you usually wont have a problem finding a hostel unless there is some sort of event taking place. ive gone to small towns where ive read old information telling me there are hostels around only to find they were all closed and spent the night sleeping on a bench somewhere. =p

It depends which country, but I always book my first couple of nights at least so that I'm not wandering around looking for somewhere to stay as soon as I land. If I'm travelling long term I'd generally only book a few days in advance so that I've got the flexibility to change my plans as I go along.

Depends entirely on the destination and the time of year.

Cheers,
Terry

cheers for the feedback guys! yer ill be booking a hostel before i leave which hopefully ill be heading out in June/July

In my experience, I've booked hostels during peak travel times like summer, and as long I as gave the hostel a couple days notice they were happy to move back my reservation if I ended up spending extra time elsewhere.

Of course that depends on their availability at the time, but it always worked out fine for me, probably because people are often moving or canceling their reservations which leaves open beds.
