Travel cash cards

Hi guys

If you're going to Australia for a year and work there, you should just get an Australian bank account (how else do you expect to be paid?) - then use internet banking (or a trusted family member back home) to transfer your money to your Australian bank account. Which makes those travel cash cards completely unnecessary.

How about giving some respectful information sander.

A good idea for Thailand is to get a travellers card. I use caxtonfx which I have found really helpful. Only issue is that there is a £200 daily limit which I don't think can be changed. It's really just a cash card with good exchange rates and no fee's at atm's.

When your in Australia you will have to setup a bank account. You can set one up whilst still in England with nab or commonwealth bank. I think you can setup your TFN (tax file number) aswell which is essential when getting a job.

No disrespect intended, but rereading my post, I see how my tone could be construed as off; I should've included a smiley there. Thanks for pointing it out.

A TFN can - afaik, and according to the - only be requested when you're already in Australia.

Hi guys

Seeking some advice for cash cards for travelling in Thailand (for a month) and Australia for at least a year (we have working holiday visa's), any suggestions as to the best way to pay for things. Read about cards which you transfer funds onto but these seem to be only good for Australia and you get charged fees on top of them. I have researched on -snip- and several websites but it would be good to get some advice from people who have actually travelled. I do not wish to carry too much cash for obvious reasons.

How much realistically would we need to travel Thailand for a month? We are prepared to stay in hostels and budget as much as we can. We have £7,500 for Thailand and Australia and will be working in Oz.

Has anyone been to Thailand in early July? We have read it is the rainy season but it only rains for a short while then its sunny, true?

Any advice appreciated, many thanks.

U allready have a bank account "YES"
Hook it up online "YES"

Now every time you move forward you open a new account transfer the money to the new account transfer fee "once"

Now you have a new account "YES"
Hook it up online "YES"
Pay pass debit card "YES"
mobile phone "YES"
Transfer to the new account "Transfer fee once"
Do all this your self on your smart phone "This is the cheapest way" And if you are somewhere you cant open an account
Withdraw the most you can out of a big note ATM.
