Hiya, I'm seventeen and I want to go to America, either this year or next Summer.
I want to go to Colorado and Salem (witch-hunts!) especially.
I really want to go some place with lots of culture, book stores, libraries, art galleries, museums and the like. Does anybody have any idea which locations are the best?
By the way, I will be staying in hostels most probably. I figure that I might meet some American friends there too!
Also, since I want to go to someplace with a lot of culture, IS Central America the best place?
I live in England, by the way.
Thanks.
America has very little in the way of history, and some might unkindly claim in the way of culture.
Washington DC has good museums like the Smithsonian, and other places to visit, and close by are the old war battlefields, old style villages with people in costume and such. The right time and you might catch some battle re-enactments which are very colourful.
Only a tiny number of people died at the Salem witch trials with far, far more dying in Europe, but not something they boast about in Europe (which has far more: culture, book stores, libraries, art galleries, museums and the like than America will ever have.) Do make sure you go to Salem in Massachusetts and not in Oregon.
Hostels? Motels and the like more likely. America is an expensie place to stay and booking online beforehand can save you money, but you need to check location as they can be way across town, and very difficult to reach if you do not have a car.
