hi,
Most flights I have been on required me to fill out API (Advanced Passenger Information) - This can usually be done on their website, most websites use the booking reference as the username. It should explain it in the confirmation email.

Why would you need to enter your passport details? The only flights I've ever had to do that for are to North America, cause of the USA's crazy paranoid rules which require this information to be sent to them beforehand. For regular flights everywhere else in the world, the airline has no need of your passport (though obviously you still need your passport for immigration, and as a form of identification at various security checkpoints that confirms the name on the boarding pass is your name).
I don't know if, as a Malaysian citizen, you'd need a visa to travel to Turkey, but if so, that's your business to sort out, not that of the airline.
As for choosing your seat; different airlines open that up at different times (and nowadays they frequently charge extra for it), mostly depending on how far in advance they know which specific airplane will actually be flying that specific route on that specific day.
I had to enter my API for America, Spain and Marrakech. Not just americans lol
Oh yeah, I'd heard that Spain added this a while ago for flights from the UK. Still boggles my mind. Definitely not required for flights within the Schengen zone, though, nor to Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, etc

thanks for the replies.
i did contact the customer service from netflight and they've advise and as suggested to go to the airline weBsite to enter passport details, choose seats etc..however, the turkish weBsite doesnt seem to allow you to do so untill the actual online check line, unless i am missing out something?
i just want to confirm that it is fine that they do not have my passport details until the check in day itself? and passport details are only for immigration purpose...
i am actually transiting in turkey with turkish airline But the flights are actually to malaysia.
"... i just want to confirm that it is fine that they do not have my passport details until the check in day itself? and passport details are only for immigration purpose..."
Bingo.
Cheers,
Terry
