Hi all, I'm flying on return from London to bangkok airport on the 12th of November. I will be 20 on my time of arrival. Just wondering if anyone has any info they can give me on great things to do, best places to meet people. I'm a very outgoing and spontaneous person so I don't have any specific plans!
Also how much money do you think I will need, low budget
Billy,
Almost all backpacker to Thailand head for once in BKK. Heaps of low cost GHs and hostels types places to stay. Street food and cheap restaurants as well. The kids network and share info on where they have been, where they are headed next. Since you are outgoing anyway, you will have no problem hooking up with others doing exactly what your are: bumping around SEA on a shoestring budget. Look at the and check out places to stay. Read what others have written about the place. Then you will have several places in mind on where you might want to stay. Use the accommodation button, top of this page. Highest rated places listed first.
Low end budget is appox. $30/day, $900 month, round off, figure $1K/month. That should be ballpark for someone your age, hostels/fan rooms, eating street, not much drinking. Good luck with your planning.
Definately hit up the KSR on arrival, head out and hav a few beers and meet the many other travellers!
£600 a month is about average, but of course the more the better! If you spend more time down south it will cost more, the isalnds are more expensive than the north, esp Koh phangan around full moon time.
