I'm sure you'll be fine that time of year! It's where a lot of backpackers head given it gets colder down south, so you will certainly not be alone
I could say something (that I'd consider) funny, but I better not.
Although not as busy as the middle of Summer, there's always backpackers in and around Cairns. So you're sure to meet up with people.

Hi Louise, I am traveling to Cairns at some point but starting off in Sydney on the 1st if your still about by the time i get up there you'll have to let me know where the good hostels and bars are ect.
