Hi all, Hope your all well, im new to the forum so hopefully im doing it all correct!
Hello rich
Sounds like you got a good plan there it sounds amazing to do what you got planned. I like the whole idea of being in a campervan. How much do you reckon it will all cost to travel about as much as you want to ? i arrive in sydney in october
Hi Braders
Hopefully its a good plan! Yes im thinking being in a campervan will cut costs of hostels and you can move about the country when and where you want,
for the route iv priced fuel up at around £3000 ish
Van - £3000 ish
Van insurance, maintenance etc - £1500 ish
Then accommodation is paid for in the van , Just got food and drink on top!
At the end of the trip the van will be sold, hopefully sell it on for a similar price that we paid for it!
Planning of working atleast 88 days so that I can get my 2nd year Visa, but im happy to work as much as I can to fund the trip! Il take it as it comes
Whats your plans in Sydney then?
Rich

Hi Richard,
Hows things?
That plan sound amazing mate. When are you thinking about going over?
I had thought about doing the campervan as well but starting from Perth then working it the other way. Just didnt know if it would be worth the hassle trying to get insurance etc. Is it easy to do? Like Braders im planning on flying into Sydney the end of October/ start of November.
Doing the farm work to try and get my 2nd year was one of the first things I wanted to try and do, give me more time to chill out and travel at my own pace.
The whole campervan, camping thing sound ace and like you say youve got your transport and accomadation in one.
Have you got anything arranged so far?
Stu
Hi Stu, Im very well thanks, Yourself?
Ah ok, Id like to do it the other way and end up in Perth at the end for a year (well that's the plan...)
I think I may fly out at the end of September but to Cairns and then head down the coast so that im not back tracking on myself, For the first week I will book into a cheap hotel / hostel whilst I sort out the right van and paperwork etc,
I think its easy enough to do, cant be that hard as loads of people do it!
Agree with getting the work done and taking everything at a relaxed pace and a pinch of salt!
I don't have anything arranged as such, but its 100% as far as im concerned,
I have been in contact with visa agents but im not sure if I should do it through them or direct? what have you done? planning on getting the visa sorted in the next week or 2
And then I will book a flight once the visa is sorted,
Why does everybody seem to fly to Sydney then?
Cheers
Rich
Doing good thanks .
Still sound like a great plan.
Id fly out now if I had the money saved, thats really the only thing stopping me to be fair.
That sounds good, you just planning on pitcking up work as you go?
Ive looked on websites and noticed alot of people selling van after they are finshed travelling so should be easy to pick one up at a reasonable price.
I done my visa direct, was very simple to do and got a confirmation email within 2 hours of completing my application so id recommend doing it yourself.
Ive hopefully got the opportunity of work there but nothing set in stone yet as its not the sort of work im looking for (however work is work). I wanted to be in Sydney for the NYE as well but apart from that theres nothing specific.
You planning on travelling solo?
Stu
Good
Hopefully just pick up work as I go along, Maybe try to make a few contacts before I leave,
Yes hopefully pick a van up that's been kitted out for the job, should save a few £ that way,
Thats great, I will do it direct then thanks, Iv just added you on Facebook as I have a few questions regarding the visa if you could help it would be ace!
Agree work is work! NYE in Sydney will be great if I can get down the coast in time, will be a moment to remember hopefully!
Yes planning to travel solo unless I find some one who'd like to do it with me, Would be a much better experience imo doing it with someone,
Rich
Im the same looked at a few sites that advertise farming work etc so will try and get in touch with people nearer my leaving date.
Thats one of the things I really wanted to do but apart from that I dont really have anything planned as such. See where my travels take me.
Have you looked at any site selling vans?
It sound like a good plan to me, id definatly be interested!! Share on the costs, would be a huge benefit of having someone to travel with.
Stu
The best site so far that I have found over there is Gumtree, loads of vans for sale on there,
Sounds good mate!
It all started when I came across this site below, Perfect for short term but for long term its cheaper to buy one
