Everywhere you go in Spain and Portugal, there is culture. Parties where you can attend, apart from festival times, will only be in big cities and coastal resorts with lots of Brits.
Tip: Don't go early June to start of September. It is expensive, crowds everywhere, and it is very hot in some places.

I am also going on a roadtrip this summer to Spain and Portugal. We are going to see Barcelona, San Sebastian, Madrid, Lisbon, Lagos, Sevilla, Malaga, Granada and Valencia. Also we are going to the running of the bulls and the BBK music festival. This is an organized trip and it takes almost 3 weeks. Maybe this is something you can look at because you said you wanted a mix of culture and parties. There are 5 different roadtrips you can choose from with different festivals. Well my tip for Portugal is to go to Sagres if you wanted some excellent beaches. The coastline from Sagres up north in the Costa Vicentina National Park. It's just stunning. If you hire a campervan you can camp overnight in lots of different car parks there.
