Hi I'm going to philipines in January, I've been to Asia and Australia and New Zealand so it's not my first time going back packing on my own, anyone who is going to be there around same time let me know, also if anyone can give me any advice it'll be definitely useful.

Travellerspoint shows that this thread is more than one month old so I'm not sure if you are still looking for advice but...
I lived one year in the Philippines and had a chance to travel around
Places I would definite recommend you are Palawan (one of the most beautiful places in the world!), Bohol, Camuiguin (small island close to Bohol) and Sagada (if you like mountains... rice terraces are amazing!).
I don't recommend you staying long time in Manila and Cebu... not so much to see there.
