Hi I've started creating my packing list for my three week trip this December(I'll be visiting France, Switzerland, and Belgium), and here's what I've came up with so far:
Clothes
4 Short-Sleeve T-Shirts
2 Long-Sleeve T-Shirt
2 Pairs of Jeans
1 Pair of Slacks
1 Pair of Shorts
1 Thin Hoodie
1 Thick Jacket
1 Pair of Hiking Boots
1 Pair of Regular Shoes
1 Pairs of Gloves
5 Pairs of Boxers
5 Pairs of Socks
1 Beanie
4 Short-Sleeve T-Shirts
2 Long-Sleeve T-Shirt
2 Pairs of Jeans
1 Pair of Slacks
1 Pair of Shorts
1 Thin Hoodie
1 Thick Jacket
1 Pair of Hiking Boots
1 Pair of Regular Shoes
1 Pairs of Gloves
5 Pairs of Boxers
5 Pairs of Socks
1 Beanie
Pack 2 "tops" and 2 "bottoms" aside from the one set you are wearing. Bring 2 jumpers/sweatshirts instead of long-sleeved t-shirts. T-shirts are for wearing underneath the jumpers for extra warmth, so go for 2 short-sleeved and one long-sleeved. I would also pack one button-down, it is nicer than a jumper.
Forget about the slacks and the shorts completely (unless they are swimming shorts), it will be far too cold for them. Same goes for the thin hoodie.
Pack one pair of shoes - the hiking boots. The other shoes will be a useless pain in the neck.
Bring a pyjama (long legs, long sleeves) if you plan to stay in hostels. A scarf might be useful too.
Electronics
Don't forget a converter and plug adapter for the iphone and the laptop.
Alarm clock - Doesn't your iphone have an alarm clock hidden somewhere?
What else am I missing, what should I consider getting rid of? Any suggestions?
Towel, soap, shampoo, silverware, little watertight plastic container large enough to carry 3 tomatoes or 2 small bananas. And unless you plan on spending a lot of time in the snow get rid of the sunglasses. Reconsider the contacts - won't your glasses do the job?
I would like to add something: I just saw that you are really focusing on Switzerland. If that means that you plan to ski or do other wintersports you better bring a skiing jacket and skiing pants and snow boots.
Jeans are utterly useless for traipsing around in deep snow, in fact wearing them in deep snow can kill you. You'll also want long johns made out of wool and a thermal undershirt.
And since you are going for 3 weeks consider bringing 10 pairs of socks and ten pairs of boxers, this will ensure that you only have to wash once.
