How to get from Malawi to Victoria Falls and back?

I'm going to Blantyre for an internship for 4 weeks but really want to get to Victoria Falls afterwards, does anybody know the best way to do it? Are there overnihgt bus routes?

The best way is to jump on any bus to Lilongwe, and from there to Lusaka. There are 2 weekly direct buses to Lusaka, one departing on Tuesday at least, but do check, as these things change. Another way (which also works out a bit cheaper) is to take a very frequent minibus to the border from the main bus station in Lilongwe, walk across the border, and then take a shared taxi on the Zambian side to the first town, Chipata, about 20 mins away. Then you continue up to Lusaka on a big bus- if you time it right and leave it early, you can get a bus from Chipata around 1pm-ish, but generally the buses depart to Lusaka early in the morning. You might need to break the journey and stay in Chipata for the night.

From Lusaka, it's (technically) 6hours to Livingstone, but as the roads are a bit bad, allocate 8 hours. The first bus of the day in Zambia is timed, which means it leaves on time. The rest depart when they're full, and you might need to wait a bit for them to fill up- I've waited nearly 4 hours so I recommend using the first bus of the morning, even if it is at 4/5am. You can book tickets in advance with the bus companies a day before.

Realistically, you're looking at an overnight stop in either Chipata or Lusaka, and, although this might sound a bit complicated, it is actually fairly straightforward- they recognise a tourist a long way off and will shove you towards the correct bus/minibus.
