Quick Oz WHV Question.

Does the 12 months of the Visa start from the day it's issued or the day you enter Australia? I'm just checking for the best time to submit my application.

From the day you enter the country (which can be as much as 12 months after the visa was granted).

If you applied for your Working Holiday visa outside Australia your 12 month stay period starts when you enter Australia.

Thanks for the quick reply Sander.

Would you happen to know if the visa application requires inbound and outbound flight details?

Must I arrange my flights before I submit my application?

Thanks

It doesn't. (Or at least, it didn't back in 2003, and nothing I've ever heard indicates that that has changed.)

Must I arrange my flights before I submit my application?

No, it's perfectly okay not to have any flights booked when arranging your visa. The visa application process does ask you for your estimated arrival date (again, or at least used to), but this is not in any way binding, and it's perfectly okay to arrive many months earlier or later, just as long as it's within 12 months of having been granted the visa.

Yeah that's definately still the case now. No advance flights needed. Same goes for the required funds, you have to declare that you WILL have the money, not that you already do. I hear they rarely check when you arrive anyway, but i've also heard that Oz is expensive so i'm going prepared!

Make sure you get your visa from the official immigration website, it's much cheaper and quicker than with a third-party agency.

That's super. Thanks Sander and thanks Tracy for confirming that. I will also use the official website to process my visa.

Have a nice time in Oz.

I don't really. But as you probably know commercial airlines do allow you to check in large items like surf boards ectI.

I imagine UPS or DHL will be very expensive too.

yeh that what im trying to do but ive only got 30kg luggege so ive just found out i have to put it in cargo or £200 extra it will be worth it ! but thank you anyway dude !

another question for ya if you dont mind ,whats the deal with driving in sydney is my uk driving licence enough to drive or do i need to take a state driving test ?

cheeers in advance

I think if your going to be there over 12 months you will have to get an international driving licence, which you apply for here in the UK. If not, you can use your UK driving to drive up to 12months. But i'm not 100% on that...
