HY,
I'll be in Christchurch by tomorrow and after few days i wanna move on...not sure if down south or more up....also looking for job, and it's not sure yet in my mind which direction to go!
If someone is also looking for a job or would like to travel for a little while together...im IN! I even thought maybe drive the rental car from chch to Queenstown, it would be for free as the car has to be driven down there!
I've been to both places and although they're both great I found Nelson to have a lot more about it.
Queenstown I found, although great for scenery and activities, was a tad isolated and being a very tourist-dominated area, it was also quite expensive.
Nelson on the other hand had some wonderful beaches and scenery within short distances. The town itself seemed to be bigger than queenstown with more shops/facilities.
Unless you'd be up for working in a bar etc, I lso think there'd be less scope for work in queenstown as opposed to Nelson.
All the above is just my opinion, make of it what you will.
I'd suggest the Nelson Bays area, it's a good place to spend time in the summer, for one thing the weather is great, sun most days from Jan to the end of March. also there is a lot to do, beaches, tramping, kayaking, mountain biking, all the usual outdoorsy stuff plus a lot of arts and crafts as well. If you do spend some time in Nelson make sure you get over the hill to Golden Bay, it's a wonderful place to chill out.
