For our first anniversary we are hoping to spend 2 weeks (13nights), at the end of June, in Southeast Asia, we have already booked ourtickets and will be using KL as our base. We are on a pretty tight budget, but noticed that flights around the region were very cheap from KL. We are in no way restricted to Malaysia, so all your suggestions are welcome (as long as the flight there doesn't cost the earth!).
Hello there,
If you prefer to visits islands, check out this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_islands_of_Malaysia
From there, you can search for more details. There many sites for places of interest around Malaysia. My advice, from KL go to East Cost. There're many islands and interesting culture there. Or you can choose Borneo (Sabah or sarawak), very interesting.
Had to admit its a really tight budget, maybe you can try to save from trasportation. Trains (www.ktmb.com.my) and buses are relatively convenience, comfy, and much cheaper compared to flight, allows you to see interesting view as well.
Some list of buses you can choose:
SANI express
Transnasional (wider destination option)
Mahligai express
Darul naim Express.
Check out Malaysian tourism board for other transportation options.
Regards
