Momondo Flights on Travellerspoint.... Not good !

I've recently been looking at Travellerspoint's recommended agent for flights - Momondo.
Are they for real?
Is this really a good advert for Travellerspoint - which is surely here, mainly, to save the traveller a bit of money?
The vast majority of the prices quoted on their site are horrendously expensive, compared to what the airline is charging - if booked directly with them.

Momondo is only an air travel search engine - you have to click on one of it's client companies to actually buy a ticket. I personally think the Momondo format is one of the best in the industry.

I think not. Their overall prices (whether through agencies - or not), are not good.

Aren't they? I admit it's been a month or two since looking, but so far every time I search on Momondo, versus say Kayak/Skyscanner and travel agencies (the few that actually provide searches across multiple airlines), Momondo will often come up with what is the cheapest route. Not always mind you, but I think that's an ailment of all these meta search engines. Often a travel agent that knows the route well will be able to come up with a much better price, but most travel agents don't tend to know every route that well either.

And just to be clear, when they come up with the cheapest route, it's usually bookable with either the airline directly, or through some broker. If there's a choice (and nowadays there pretty much always is!), I ALWAYS choose the airline directly. I have though in one or two occassions come across deals that the airline didn't offer themselves, only via a certain OTA or broker. Meta search engines can be really handy for sniffing those out!

I don't think so. Maybe it's just on that kind of time.

have checked out the so called cheapest ticket sellers,by the end booked my ticket from the airline direct, cheaper.

Sorry, but my colleagues and I checked out between us - 100 flights across a very broad spectrum and Momondo performed very poorly.
I really don't want to keep on about it though - my point is, there are a lot of much cheaper alternatives out there.
I rest my case.

Whilst I agree with your premise that there are indeed cheaper flights to be found Bob, to 'rest your case' you technically need to supply evidence, facts, data, options, alternatives to support your case, which I have not seen!
BTW. I have a sister called Bob!

Technically speaking, you're correct.
I have a brother called Jeffrey. Small world, isn't it - don't you think? His name is spelt correctly, yours appears not to be. But then again technically speaking your name could be as written on the original paperwork without add-ons, maybe? A bit like airlines that offer a fare without agents and search engines commission. Just a thought.
Now we all know that Travellerspoint would spontaneously combust, if I started putting fares up in an open forum, without first getting authority from the highest order.
So - and don't get all excited thinking I won't do it, because I will gladly - however first I need to see a post from someone in T/P Admin permitting it - and not threatening to zapp it as spam.
I'm ready.
PS.... In the meantime, maybe 'marlis' can start off by pointing you in the right direction, if they dare to. There's a clue for you to be going on with.

Bob, you hereby have my permission to do a comparison Not that we would be zapping your post anyway, since I think you've well and truly built up enough goodwill / trust around here!

I've actually got no problem having someone else being promoted for airfare search. But I'm not an airfare meta-search expert by any means, so quite happy for someone else to come up with a better option to put in there. I for one would be very interested in your findings!
