Hi,
Harry I wouldn't sweat it too much on meeting people to travel with on an internet forum. Anywhere you travel to will have a "tourist area" these will be the places that have accommodations, restaurants and other tourist services. They are usually around the main train stations or bus stations. Think of Kings Cross, or Earls Court in London. I assume your flying into Delhi. The tourist area there is Paranganj, its near New Delhi train station and a number of bus terminals. Arrive there, hang out at a street side restaurant and I'll guarantee you'll hook up with fellow travelers.
Arriving in November is the perfect time to head south to Goa.
P.S quit the smoking, don't you know its bad for you!
Thanks for the advice!
I plan on going to goa first, as i know its a main tourist area and will have a nice time even if it takes a few days to meet people I went there bak in 2000 i was only 10 then though im worried i might be sad on how much its changed.
I've never travelled before, and i am a little worried on how to pass an ice-breaker and get chatting to backpackers. I'm guessing most groups are welcoming as there in a similar situation?
Just need to convince myself that i can get over this problem of meeting people and knowing I won't be alone, as that would be a pritty shoddy experience.
Smoking is good used in moderation

Around that time of year all the tourists in India are heading south, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find someone to travel with.
Yeah striking up a conversation can be a little intimidating at first. I use to be very shy when I first started traveling, but through necessity you have to start talking to a lot of complete strangers, and after a while you realize that on the whole people are friendly and want to help. And then it gets a lot easier and you'll start chatting to just about anyone! I find its actually the best way to travel. I see so many people that are "couples", They stick together, never out of each others pocket and remain scared or don't find it necessary to talk to strangers, and they miss out on so many of the best experiences of travel.
Hi, i'm 22 female from belgium and if you want to meet up, i will landing in Mumbai 14th november, the first time India for me so i would be happy to share my first impressions with someone :-) Also like you not very sure but i think once in india it will all work out.
Nov-Jan is the best time to go to Lakshdweep Islands. They're coral islands.
Its situated in the Arabian Sea. Not very far from Goa.
It has one of the best scuba sites.
As you mentioned you'll be in India for 6 months. Try visiting Leh-Ladakh in the northernmost part of India in March-Apr. Scenic, serene beauty!
