Travelling round SA, starting in Peru (how long?)

Raggyfish has indicated that this thread is about South America

you'd be nigh on insane to miss out Bolivia.

Depends where you want to go in Argentina and Chile too. You seem to have Peru well sussed. I spent 6 months in SA but only one of them in Peru and found that to be enough.

Rurrenabaque in Bolivian jungle is worth a visit. Can stay on a river lodge, lots of good swimming with dolphins, fishing for piranah, lots of wildlife, hunting anaconda etc.

You might want to go to Titicacca which borders Bolivia and Peru. Ilha del Sol there is interesting as is Copacabana (Bolivian side) and Puno (Peruvian side).

The Salt Flats tour which leaves from Tupiza in Bolivia is great fun.

Learning Spanish in Areqipa is a good idea as it is very clear there. The accent is good. I personally preferred Cusco as a town. Better accom and restaurants if you are staying for a while. Each to their own though.

Hi thanks for the advice we are definitely planning Bolivia, Equador, Uruguay and Paraguay. Just not sure about Brazil at the moment.

Already looking into booking a two week Spanish course in Arequipa, also want to alot of walking so this looks like a better option.

What is best way to travel, heard buses are not too safe? any suggestions of good bus companies to use?

Hi I am travelling for 3 month starting 27 March 2011 in Buenos Aires , going South to Patagonia and ending in Brazil anyone keen to join keep in touch ...
