Australia April 2011

Hi people

Hey,

I arrive on the 7th May, staying at the Wake Up hostel. My plans are the same as yours. Excited but I am also a little nervous. Keep telling myself there are thousands of people doing the same, hopefully I'll be fine

Where you going in the US?

Claire

Hey Claire

I'm planning to stay in the Wake Up for about a month so I may still be there when you arrive! You will be fine, there will be lots of people doing it and by going by yourself you will get to meet so many people How long are you hoping to go out there for? Have you got everything sorted?

I'm visiting New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Vancouver, got 2 months doing that before my flight to Sydney.

Scott

Hey,

Sounds good! If I have enough money i'd like to try fly back via the US but i'll just need to wait and see.

Hope to be out there for the full year, and if all goes well stay and get my second year visa. I'd like to go to new Zealand at one point too, might apply for a working visa for there while in Oz.

Not many plans. I leave the UK on the 23rd April for Thailand, spend just under 2 weeks there then heading to Sydney. The only plans I have is a tour thing once I have been there for 5 days... just advise on work, includes accommodation in the Wake Up hostel and other tours. You many plans?

Claire

Hey scott i leave England on the 11th and arrive in Sydney a couple of days later. not booked any hostel yet. My only plan is to get there and then take it from there.

I have not looked at any hostels yet. Is wakeup a recommended one? Also were did you get your insurance from?

Paul

Claire

Thats what I'm hoping to, I booked one of them Australian travel experts who sorted every out for me, that includes my WWOOF membership which is needed to do the 3 months of work to entitle the 2nd year visa.
I'm hoping to go to NZ as well, once I've finished OZ anyway

I'm hoping to be in Sydney for the first month or 2 and then do the 3 months WWOOF work so once I've done that I can really enjoy myself! I have a Blue mountain trip booked which I got when I booked my expert but apart from that I haven't planned any others!
I'm hoping to meet some people out there who want to do a few trips and that so I can join in!

Are you staying in Sydney? Or you heading around OZ?

Scott

Hi Paul

From all the reviews I've read The Wake Up hostel has won loads of awards and is very highly recommended! If you search it on YouTube you can see it and it looks really nice!

I got my insurance through travelsupermarket.com I went with a company called Holiday Safe, I didnt have a great deal of choice because I had to include USA! I got 13 months cover for a good price!

How long are you planning to be out there? You staying in Sydney or moving around?

Scott

Hi Guys

OMG its sooo exciting for us all, im from Belfast and im heading to Thailand on 2 June for 2 weeks then onto Sydney to get job etc sorted and then travelling round to oz in Greyhound. If anyone else is doing this sort of thing around the same time that im traveling giz a shout

I've never heard of Austrailian travel experts, shame my flights and first tour are booked otherwise I might have had a look at them. My only concern is money and finding a job. I really want to stay as long as I can...just scared I can't due to money

I'll be in Sydney for probably a few weeks, possibly up to a month, if I come accross a job then longer. My plan is to see as much of Austraila as I can so i'll be moving around as much as I can. There are some places are really want to go, some on the west coast around Perth. My boss is from NZ, wasn't somewhere on my list but he has told me some great things about it so i'd love to go there too

So exciting! I just bought my bag last night, hopefully it's big enough!!

Claire

Yeah they sorted everything out my visa, bank account, mobile phone, hostels/apartments, job offers for 12 months, heard good things about them so I decided to do it.

How much money do you have to start with? I think there is plenty of jobs out there so I don't think you will have any problems find work!

I defiantly agree with you there, a chance to go to NZ is not a chance to miss!

How big of bag did you get? I was going to take a suitcase but I changed my mind and brought a Karrimor Global 70-90 litre Rucksack, it had really good reviews and it feels comfortable to wear and looks good stuff but it cost a lot of money.

Scott
